Terms of service.

The terms that apply when you work with Northcraft, in plain language. Your written quote sets out the specifics of your project; where the two differ, the quote wins. Last updated October 2026.

No payment, no obligation. If it misses, you owe nothing.

About these terms

These terms apply to services provided by Northcraft Web Design Studio (“Northcraft”, “we”, “us”), based in Ottawa, Ontario, to you, the client. By accepting a quote, you agree to these terms and to that quote.

The free concept

The homepage concept we prepare before a project is free and comes with no obligation. You don't need to give payment details, and if you decide not to go ahead, you owe nothing. We won't use your business name, content or concept in our own marketing without your permission.

Quotes and scope

  • Every project has one flat price, agreed in writing before any work starts. It is not an estimate and it does not change for the work described.
  • The quote lists what's included: the pages, features and services you're paying for, plus the agreed timeline.
  • If you later want something that isn't in the quote, such as a new page or feature, we'll quote it separately as one flat price, and nothing starts until you agree.
  • Asking questions never costs extra.

Payment

  • Website builds and rebuilds are paid in two parts: half to start, half at launch.
  • Care plans are billed monthly in advance.
  • The Website Assistant has a one-time setup fee, then a monthly plan billed in advance.
  • Prices are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes are shown on the quote and invoice.

Revisions

Revisions are included in the price of every build. The quote describes how revisions work for your project. Changes that go beyond the agreed scope are handled as described under “Quotes and scope”.

Timelines and your part

The timeline is agreed in writing with the quote. Keeping to it depends on both of us, so we ask you to:

  • Provide your content, such as text, photos and logos, when agreed.
  • Give feedback within a reasonable time.
  • Make sure anything you provide is accurate, and that you have the right to use it.

If content or feedback is delayed, the launch date may move by a similar amount. We'll always tell you if we expect a delay on our side.

Ownership

  • Your domain, hosting, files and logins are set up in your name from the start, and documented at handover.
  • The website we build for you is yours. If we never speak again after launch, the site keeps running and any developer can take it over.
  • Content you provide remains yours.
  • We may keep using general know-how and techniques, but never your content, branding or business information, on other projects.

Third-party services

Your domain registrar, hosting provider and any other third-party tools have their own terms and fees, which you pay to those providers. Where we know these costs in advance, we list them in the quote. We're not responsible for outages or changes made by third-party providers, but on a care plan we'll help you deal with them.

Care plans

  • Care plans are $45 CAD a month, optional, and month to month. There is no contract or minimum term.
  • They cover small edits, such as text changes, swapping photos, and updating hours, prices or a menu, plus hosting care, updates and uptime monitoring.
  • A new section or page is quoted separately, as one flat price, before any work starts.
  • You can cancel anytime by email. Your plan ends at the end of the month you've paid for, and nothing is held back: your site keeps running and everything stays in your name.

Website Assistant

  • The Website Assistant is $450 CAD to set up, then $79 CAD a month. It doesn't require a Northcraft website.
  • The assistant answers from the information you provide. You're responsible for making sure that information, such as prices, hours and services, is accurate and kept up to date. We review conversations and update its answers as part of the monthly plan.
  • It's a tool to help you respond faster, not a replacement for your own judgement. Anything it can't answer is passed to you.
  • Automated texts and emails are only sent to customers who have given consent, as Canada's anti-spam law requires. You agree not to ask us to message anyone who hasn't.
  • The tools the assistant runs on are covered by the monthly plan. You can cancel anytime by email; the assistant is removed from your site at the end of the month you've paid for.

If things don't work out

If you're not happy with the finished site, revisions are part of the price and we'll work to put it right. If it still isn't right and we can't fix it, either of us can end the project in writing. You keep everything produced up to that point, and any amount owing for work completed is settled as set out in the quote. We'd rather part on good terms than have a bad build carrying our name.

What we can't promise

We build every site carefully, with fast pages and search fundamentals included. But no one can honestly guarantee search rankings, traffic or sales, and we don't. To the extent the law allows, Northcraft's total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in question, and we're not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Changes to these terms
